Collective Agreement Nunavut Employees Union

Managers have the means to discipline employees who walk around while working from home. A surprise of the webconference during working hours is quite simple. While these difficult issues still need to be addressed, the team is pleased to announce that the first negotiation meeting with the GN was both positive and productive. Both parties committed to begin negotiating in good faith for a collective agreement, and the ensuing exchanges over the course of the week were consistent with that commitment in tone and spirit. The LARP will lose a lot of employees very quickly. I am already looking for a job in the South and this openly anti-worker policy is the main reason for this. If I can`t find anything in the South by Christmas, I still won`t be back next year. This is a discriminatory policy that specifically addresses workers who are not originally from Nunavut. You miss the point and you clearly lack analytical skills. The NEWS does not say that employees should not take advantage of the vacation period to see the family.
The NEWS says that the vacation period should not be used for mandatory COVID19 isolation and that GN should not dictate to employees how to use their vacation, as COVID19 isolation is not a leave. What is so difficult to understand? Haven`t read the article? And this idea that it is a “choice” to go to the South is nonsense. There are circumstances in which people must and must travel to the South – COVID19 or not. Not everyone has the luxury of staying in Nunavut indefinitely. And yes, people have the right to take care of their well-being, and if that means leaving Nunavut because it does not have sufficient resources, they are entitled to it. And if the LARP wants people to stay in Nunavut forever, then they should use resources and services to make that possible, but oh wait. They can`t help it, they wouldn`t have such high turnover rates with employees and people who want to leave. Taking care of your well-being is not a requirement, and if the LARP learns to take better care of their employees, people may not see the need to leave as much. But in October, the first day of mediation, that offer fell by more than half to 16,537,494 $US. The proposed wage increases are also lower, the union said. Some workers may object to union membership on religious or political grounds, but whether or not a member or not, any worker under a PSAC collective agreement has the right to represent and vote on collective agreements and strikes.
This resulted in retroactive payments, broken down into tranches, to cover the difference between what they actually paid and what they would have paid if the agreement had been in force in 2014. “As long as the isolation points are in place, GN employees, like all Nunavummiut who travel voluntarily outside of Nunavut, must self-isolate for 14 days at a GN isolation site before returning to the area,” he said. According to the union, the Government of Nunavut proposed in June an overall increase of $33,807,738 for its northern employee allowances over the life of the new collective agreement. The more PSAC members work together in their own communities, the stronger our union becomes. Indigenous peoples can participate in a wide range of regional committees and forums and work with members of other components to discuss common interests and issues and take action. This union should be more concerned about signing the collective agreement that has expired, it should be involved in the personal decisions of people to the South. If you live and claim a northern residence, suck up the butter! It`s up to you to choose not to force you to leave. GN should not pay for your 14-day stay. they should only cover basic services and medical patients. If you think it`s absolutely important that you have to go south to see your family from the South, then enjoy your deserved time as an employee, it`s not essential that you leave. As a union employee of GN, you stop wasting the money we give you and drop this problem.
